What makes the photographer an artist? by Katarina Fagerstrom Levring

Iris Aqua
Could it be magic or is it only a way of seeing instead of just looking, what makes you an artist and not a common photographer? I am fascinated by what I can see with the help of a remarkable tool as the camera and the lens I use.  I get high on the seeing thing. And it´s a highly addictive feeling. I am currently studying Fredrick Franck´s books called “The Zen of seeing seeing/drawing as meditation” and “The awakened eye” to learn more about and expanding  my way of seeing. Being Mindful is an important part of his teachings. Being fully aware in the moment can be really frustrating I have learned earlier. It is not a “restful hobby” working with photography in this way, but about relaxed-attention. Experiencing this contemplative state of mind when creating, is in truth a bliss. The Odd One 1 by Katarina Fagerstrom Levring

As long as I can remember I have been a loner, an outsider, or maybe I should say The Odd One.  When I work with my camera and explore the different personalities of a flower I always seem to end up working most imaginative with the one I can identify with. The Iris is a very good example of this. Some people see her as stiff and boring where others see her as an exciting and mystical acquaintance.  I hereby invite you to get to now her and her sisters from my point of view. Please, visit my website at katarinafagerstromlevring.com and have a look. Welcome!

About being an outsider: follow me on my blog The almost barking mad Artist
